If you receive a paper bill from Culligan, you’re likely familiar with our Featured Child insert. Every month a child in the Department of Family and Protective Services system is featured, including their picture and a short bio. The hope is that each child will be adopted one day.
November is National Adoption Month, and on November 18th, Lubbock celebrated National Adoption Day. We at Culligan decided we wanted to go a step further in trying to bless the lives of children looking to be adopted. The way we did that was with teddy bears.
Every child in the DFPS receives a teddy bear on the day they’re adopted, and there are countless stories of how those children cherish their teddy bears as they enter an exciting and nervous time of their life, living with their adopted parents for the first time. Many children keep those bears for their whole life and reflect on the blessing adoption was to them.
On November 16th we took 25 new teddy bears and other stuffed animals to the DFPS office which will be given to children when they’re adopted, either on National Adoption Day or throughout the year. Our employees were excited to contribute, bringing a wide variety of animals that will be loved by children for years.
